The Qi and several other labs in the MPBP department at UVA are multidisciplinary teams working on many aspects of Cell Biology, Biophysics and Physiology using Immunology, Neurobiology, biochemical approaches and state-of-the-art imaging and biophysics techniques. They work in a dynamic and extremely supportive and collaborative environment that offers exciting research opportunities and close interactions with other basic and clinical scientists on the campus. Post-doctoral fellows and graduate students who are exceptionally motivated, creative, and committed to scientific discovery can contact Dr. Qi. Potential projects in the Qi laboratory involve the role of physiological ERAD in cell type- and tissue-specific ERAD KO mice, ERAD-UPR-autophagy crosstalk in health and disease, ER-mitochondrial crosstalk, or inflammation/immune response in beta cell homeostasis in the treatment of human diseases including obesity and diabetes.  If you are interested in other labs, please contact other labs directly or through Ling.
